In thrall to IKEA

Why, IKEA? Why must you tempt me so with your delicious cheapie goodies?

V and I were just going to pick up some meatballs and THAT. WAS. IT. And instead they evilly had their Christmas line on display...

Straw ornaments...
...Christmas cards...
...and how am I supposed to resist the tomte heads, I ask you?

At least I know how to make these heart baskets at home, so they weren't a temptation. But all the Swedish food was another matter. We now have a big wheel of farmer cheese and a bag of rusks and a bottle of blueberry preserves and some Julmust and pear cider and lingonberry drink and one of those salmon-pâté-in-a-tube dealies for V.

We ended up buying one of these candles (and a whole lot of other things) before we pried ourselves out of the store.

I am an addict. At least we ate well tonight.

I've never been to an IKEA store. I didn't know they sold food.

Wish we had IKEA here. I need to decorate The Love Magnet's room. And I absolutely love those red straw ornaments.

tlawwife: not all IKEA stores sell food. Many of them have at least a restaurant or a bistro near the exit. The one here in Seattle is a little unusual in that it is a franchised IKEA, so their layout is a little different than it is in most other American IKEAs. They have a Swede Shop in the store where they sell Swedish food, including frozen bags of meatballs and wheels of cheese and pickled herring and other delicacies dear to the heart of the Swedish-American.

scarehaircare: want me to get you some? I'll happily pick up and ship things for anyone who is too far from an IKEA to make travel there feasible. Or I could just evilly tempt you to come here... :)

Actually, I want to come there. It just won't happen till summer.

I'll pick up IKEA things in SLC when I go for T-day.

How is it that I am just NOW realizing that you have blogs? Cool--I love reading your Christmas letter. This will be like having a Christmas letter to read all year long.

Hi Marie! Yep, I've had this blog for some time now. I have no idea how any of this measures up to the Christmas letters... hmm. Might be a good idea to start drafting that now while I'm thinking about it.

Golly shops and spending! What alien world is this? We have a few Ikeas over here, but I've never been in one; I find it a bit much popping down to the village store for a carton of milk - but what a lovely array of bits and pieces you picked up.
