On this day, 43 years ago, four guys got into two F-4 Phantoms to complete a bombing run over a heavily-defended steel factory in North Vietnam. Both planes got shot up pretty badly and were leaking fuel. One would almost certainly have crash-landed in enemy territory without help. If one of those pilots -- Bob Pardo -- hadn't come up with the crazy, harebrained, brilliant idea of pushing the other plane out of enemy airspace, it's very likely those two guys wouldn't have survived.
But they did. And so one of those guys lived to be able to see his infant son -- my husband, Captain Midnight -- and is still around today. Dad is celebrating the anniversary of Pardo's Push by buying a whole lot of donuts and sharing them with everyone with whom he comes in contact today. My husband is doing likewise. If you happen to see Captain Midnight at work, come by and enjoy a donie.

Wow, how brilliant. I'm savoring a virtual cake donut right now! :)
Enjoy! I wish I had my donut transfer protocol to send you something more substantial. :)
That's funny girl! :)))Donut transfer protocol...giggle!
LOVED this! Checked out the Wiki page and decided that one of my kids had to take this to social studies. BTW. I am going to buy myself a Banana Pudding donut from Kripy Kreme this weekend in honor of Pardo's Push. It is a sacrifice I am willing to make. LOL!
