What's your favorite music for this time of the year?

By "this time of the year" I mean specifically the weeks leading up to Halloween. What puts you into an autumnal kind of mood? I'm a curious little monkey.

ETA: Personally, I'm fond of a lot of slightly sad/morose/macabre stuff this time of year, everything from Danse Macabre to Loreena McKennitt to Oingo Boingo.

That's a good question - do *you* have any that you like? I find that when the weather starts turning like it is this week, I jump right into Celtic Christmas compilation CDs. (They are atmospheric without being overtly full of carols...) Something more seasonally appropriate would be cool however.

Early church music...every day while it's misty.

My sister says this time of year she listens to Cowboy Junkies "Pale Sun, Crescent Moon". They're from Canada, so have all the drizzly, grey, cold weather down. :-)

Oh, I do like Cowboy Junkies! My sister introduced me to the song "Cold Tea Blues," which I think comes off that album.

Autumn isn't fall-time without Windham Hill Artists' "Thanksgiving" and "We Gather Together". I usually begin with them in September and get sick of them before Thanksgiving and by then have already moved on to Christmas music already.
