No news is mad Sooz

Well, Captain Midnight is back from the cardiologist. They have had his Holter monitor over the weekend. They did a full echocardiogram today. And what do we know about his condition?

Nothing.

That's right, absolutely nothing.

No results (other than the information that came back about the bloodwork), no admonitions about bed rest or whether it's safe for CM to go back to work, no advice about changes in diet or exercise, no indications about what kind of activities he can or cannot do, not even an official prognosis of atrial fibrillation. Everything we know, or think we know, at this point has come from my looking things up on the Internet. The doctor has told us NOTHING.

I am more than a little angry about this.

As several friends have pointed out, when it comes to heart issues no news is good news. I realize that if things were really, seriously bad with Captain Midnight, we'd be hearing more from our doctor. But right now we don't know how to proceed. This may be a routine experience for them, but it's all new ground for us. We need advice and the benefit of their experience, to know what's safe to do and what should best be avoided. We need to know whether CM will keel over if he ever has another caffeinated soft drink, or whether he can go into work tomorrow. We need to know what this is he's suffering from, officially. We are paying doctors to render assistance, as well as run tests. And we are getting bupkis.

All I can say is that there had better be some answers forthcoming first thing tomorrow, or they will be hearing from a very angry and vociferous Pirate King. Who does own a cutlass, I'll have you know. And I'm not afraid to use it either! Grrr.

I know it is very frustrating. My business partner's daughter has been having episodes for months and they really have no idea why. Not a good place to be.

Yep. Knowing is better than not knowing.
