Following long tradition in both our families, not to mention the Call of the Wild! for Manly Men! Who Wish to Cook in Manly Ways!, Captain Midnight recently went out and bought a Weber grill and all its associated paraphernalia.

This afternoon he deemed it time to Break In the Grill. So he pulled out the chimney whatchamahoozit, put some oiled paper into the bottom, filled it to here with charcoal briquettes and started playing with matches.

< mythbuster >(Kids: don't try this at home. We're what you call experts.)< /mythbuster >

It proceeded to do this. A lot of this. Enough of this that our garage, which was situated close by, still doesn't quite smell right inside.

Once he had some coals a-glowin', CM broke out the wok and started chowing up a tasty vegetable and soba noodle stir-fry. The smokiness of the cooking method went very well with the natural smoky taste of the soba and mushrooms he used.

No doubt Buddha would be delighted with this treat... as were we. Om nom nom.

Next up: STEAK for Manly Men! and Womanly Women! (But not for Buddha. Sorry, Buddha.)
